[Pro11/11] New Demosaicing Engine “Clear view”

We introduce the new RAW development engine’s demosaicing of the SILKYPIX Developer Studio Pro11/11.

The RAW development engine in the Pro11/11, which has a greater impact on image quality, is equipped with an entirely new demosaicing technology. This allows you to apply the most recent demosaicing from the moment you open an image in SILKYPIX, giving you a higher look at the resolution of the image details than you’ve seen in the previous SILKYPIX.

This new demosaicing does not support some RAWs, such as DNGs in LinearRAW format, photographic elements in FUJIFILM honeycomb arrangement, and RAWs in models with X-Trans CMOS sensors.

Please refer to the below list for cameras that support the new demosaicing technology:

How to Use Demosaicing

Normally, [Clear view] of the new demosaicing is automatically applied when a RAW file shot with a new demosaicing compatible model is opened.

How to Check for Demosaicing

Adjustment

In the Parameter controls, click the “Development settings” to display the sub-control.

Development settings

Here you can see if the demosaicing is [Clear view] or [Standard]. You can switch between the new demosaicing engine [Clear view] or previous demosaicing [Standard] by clicking the Clear view part of the demosaicing engine.

How to Check for Demosaicing

Demosaicing is not reflected for JPEG data.

For RAW files that are not supported by the new demosaicing [Clear view], the previous demosaicing [Standard] is applied. Both will be unable to select the demosaicing engine.

Demosaicing Sharpness Adjustment

Demosaicing sharpness determines the development quality.

The default value for “Demosaicing sharpness” changes depending on the type of camera and ISO film speed, “Demosaic engine” type.

The higher the demosaicing sharpness, the better the resolution of the pixels, but this may result in unnatural jaggy at the high saturation color boundaries, and noise may become more noticeable. Set it lower for a picture with full of noise.

The new demosaicing [Clear view] increases the resolution. However, it also increases the resolution of noise. Therefore, please adjust the demosaicing sharpness, or switch between [Clear view] and [Standard] depending on the subject.
