New Demosaicing Technology

Since the release of the SILKYPIX series in 2004, the new demosaicing engine "Clear view" has been added as the demosaicing technology that is the foundation of image processing. The "Clear view*" is applied as default and you can develop the higher resolutional images than ever before as soon as you open SILKYPIX. You can also use the previous demosaicing engine "Standard" as well.

New Composition Modes

Two new composition modes have been added, allowing you to create even more various worldviews. A total of eight composition modes*. * The composition modes are available only for professional editions.

Pro11 Only
Super resolution

Magnify images 1.5x or 2x and composite them by using our image coincidence detection technology (patent No.4689758). The images are composited with the high accurate and half-pixel level image alignment, you can get the super-resolution image. Since the super-resolution image has large amount of pixels, high resolution can be expressed even when making large prints or cropping.

* It supports images of less than 9000 pixels on the long side.

Multiple exposure (moving object) composite

In a well-known multiple exposure composite, moving objects are composited with misalignment. By using the new "Multiple exposure (moving object) composite," the only moving objects in the selected image are retains and ones in the other images are eliminated from the composite image.

Lighten composite

Compares the selected images while giving priority to the lighter areas of each image. By compositing multiple images from an entire night of fireworks, you can layer these together to create a single image featuring an even larger launch of fireworks.

Multiple exposure composite

The image to be composited is treated equally and the result is the same as for a multiple exposure with a camera. Combine multiple images shot together during the same scene to create highly detailed and realistic images much more effectively than with normal noise reduction.

* Image quality improves with multiple images combined. For example, combining 4 images is equivalent to ISO speed 3200, and combining 16 images is equivalent to ISO speed 800.

多重露光合成

Multiple exposure composite (night view)

Performs noise reduction and saturation for nightscapes, as well as black-level compositing. This mode allows you to create beautiful long-exposure night scenes from multiple images taken with hand-held shooting. The optional "Black level correction" lets you control the blending of dark areas.

多重露光合成(夜景)

Depth of field composite

By compositing images with different focus positions from front to back, you can create an image with a large depth of field. You can use this setting to create an image that is in focus on the entire surface, such as an image taken with a macro lens with a shallow depth of field.

Moving object removal composite

Removes moving objects from multiple images in the same scene shots and combines them into a single image. With this composition mode, you can create surreal images.

* In this mode, only the static objects from multiple images are left as a single image. For good composite results, the background must be robust and stationary, and the motion of the moving object must be obvious.

Stroboscopic motion composite

With this mode, you can capture moving objects continuously to create a single image. In this mode, only the moving object from multiple images is left as a single image.

* For good composite results, the background must be robust and stationary, and the motion of the moving object must be obvious.

Color conversion with a fine-detailed color gamut

The fine-tune of the color conversion might be difficult due to the wide conversion range in the conventional fine color controller, but now we have added the [Advanced] mode that can control color conversion in a fine-detailed color gamut. This mode allows you to select the converting color gamut in free and control hue and saturation of the gamut in detail. For example, it can be now possible to make dramatic color change like that the blue sky is changed into a sunset.

Remove Unwanted Objects

The "Retouch brush tool" makes it possible to remove unwanted objects by tracing them with this tool. There are two functions - in the "Retouch brush tool"; "Copy" to copy the original image onto the unwanted object as is, as well as "Retouch" to blend the surrounding color around the unwanted object. These functions can be used separately depending on the needs or objectives.

New Adjustment functions

Four new adjustment functions have been added to allow for new expressions and fine-tuning.

  • Pro11 Only

    Partial correction tool "Clarity"

You can apply "Clarity" to a selected area of the image instead of the entire image. For example, you can use it to smooth only the skin area.

    Partial correction tool "Sharpening"

You can apply "Sharpening" to a selected area of the image instead of the entire image. For example, you can use it to sharpen only the eyes or eyelashes.

    artial correction tool "Sharpening"
  • The tone tool "White level"

You can adjust the maximum value treated as the highlight in an image. By using this function, you can lighten a darkened highlight area to make the image clear. Combined with the "Black level" function, you can adjust contrast even more in detail.

  • Pro11 Only

    "Auto area specification tool"

Conventional "Auto white balance (AWB)" has adjusted the white balance based on the average value that is calcurated from light sources in an entire image. By using the new "Auto area specification tool," you can select image area of the light source for AWB. This function is very effective for AWB to calcurate desirable white balance from images including multiple light sources.

Notes:

*1 ... The WB setting value of the camera is not acquired.
*2 ... Although the WB value setting of the camera is acquired, AWB is treated as sunlight.
*3 ... The WB setting value of the camera is not acquired. The compression record mode of RAW is also not acquired.
*4 ... Since this model is a special type with high sensitivity for infrared ray, the color reproduction may not work well on the object having a strong infrared radiation.
*5 ... There are some limitations to develop the DNG. Please refer to "10.4.4.2 DNG Files Available with this Software" of the manual.
*6 ... In some mode, the number of recorded pixels is different from the development result created by the camera internal.
*7 ... Attached with R8 or R9 only.
*8 ... In case of sRAW and mRAW, the part feature is limited. Demosaic sharp is not available.
*9 ... SILKYPIX determines color temperature and color deflection according to "TONING" settings in camera. These values are our assumed values for white balance of RAW images. These assumed values do not guarantees that the image quality of developed RAW images is the same to JPEG images which are recorded at the same time. SILKYPIX supposes that color temperature and color deflection for RAW images are 5200K and 3 when "TONING" is disabled.
*10 ... For a RAW image with the size of "RAW S", several features such as a demosaicing sharpness are unavailable.
*11 ... Support only RAW images with 3FR file format. (RAW images with FFF file format are not supported.)
*12 ... Color vignetting auto-correction on "Lens aberration controller" sub-control is available.
*13 ... For RAW images shot with "Pixel Shift Resolution", several features such as a demosaicing sharpness are unavailable.
*14 ... "Photo style/Camera color" is supported and an available photo style can be selected.
*15 ... "Photo style/Camera color" is supported and only camera color is available.
*16 ... "FILM SIMULATION" is supported and an available film simulation can be selected.
*17 ... The some functions are limited, such as "Demosaicing sharpness" is not available.
*18 ... "X3I" RAW format which is the RAW shot in SFD mode is unsupported.
*19 ... For a RAW image with ARQ RAW format, several features such as a demosaicing sharpness are unavailable.
*20 ... "V-Log L" of the "Photo Style" is not supported.
*21 ... RAW images shot with "Image Stabilization On" mode of "Pixel Shift Resolution" are not supported. They would be loaded as the RAW images shot with "Pixel Shift Resolution" turned off.
*22 ... The color reproduction in highlight areas may not be performed correctly when adjusting the white balance of the RAWs shot with multiple exposure.
*23 ... ARQ RAW format is not supported.
*24 ... RAW images shot with "High Res Shot" are not supported.
*25 ... HEIF (HIF) format is not supported.
*26 ... "Clear view" of the demosaicing engine is not supported.
*27 ... sRAW and mRAW do not support "Clear view" of the demosaic engine.
*28 ... It supports adjustment using the object information (Semantic Masks) included in the DNG file, and can be adjusted with the Partial correction tool. (Only Professional edition)
*29 ... In operating environments where the CPU does not support SSE4 and AVX2 instructions, RAW images shot with RAW Recording "High efficiency★" and "High efficiency" are not supported.
*30 ... RAW images shot with "RAW burst mode" are not supported.
*31 ... NEFX RAW format is not supported.
*32 ... 14-bit RAW images shot with "High Res Shot" are not supported.
*33 ... AXR RAW format is not supported.
  • If developing JPEG / TIFF files, cameras other than those listed above can also be used.
  • The definition of "Supported" is able to perform the development process of RAW data output from the supported digital camera type, and when the appropriate WB processing is conducted it shows to be possible to reproduce the color with the assumed standards in our company.
  • Note) The operating environment and compatible models are subject to change without notice.
